Grandfather's cabin

I woke up this morning, and after making myself a great cup of coffee, went out on the porch to greet the day. It reminded me of Grandfather's cabin. There was a slightly cool breeze and a light pattering of rain. When you listen, you can hear the drops hitting all of the leaves on the trees around us and it took me back to sitting on the front porch of the cabin when there was a light rain...the sounds, the smells. It's hard to describe, you had to have experienced it at some point in your life in order to bring that sensation to mind. But it was there. I could almost see Grandmother leaning over the fire pit with the metal grate, tending to the pot of water with coffee grounds steeping in it. You know, come to think of it, Grandmother used to drink postum and Grandfather made instant coffee, but at the cabin, she made "brewed" coffee. If I remember correctly, we were allowed a small taste of "coffee" which was more milk than coffee but wonderful none the less. What a wonderful way to greet the sunrise. Thank you, Lord, for allowing me this morning.

Sometimes you would like to go back to those good ole days!!! I too remember Mom (Grandma) makeing coffee like that. Somehow, out in the woods the coffee tasted soooo good.
