I have had the privilege of being married for 37 years to a wonderful man who has taught me the joy of humor and laughter. It's contagious, it soothes the soul, it makes difficult times bearable, it is a gift I treasure. May we never lose the ability to laugh.

I had a moment today...
Ok, it's been some time since I had a "moment," but today, I had one. Today, I saw the surgeon to discuss getting my port out once I'm done (tomorrow-Praise the Lord!!). I fully expected him to explain to me how I should really leave it in because it is always harder to put it back in than to just leave it in to begin with. I fully expected him to tell me that the chances are that I will need it again some time in the future. I fully expected him to try to convince me that leaving it in was the best option. Instead, I got an enthusiastic "yes" to getting it out. Sure, he told me that it is a little harder to put it in again if I ever need it...but not impossible. As a matter of fact, he was encouraging about taking it out. No problem! he says. It has served you well? he asks. Now you are ready to get it out, he says. Ok, then, out it comes! I could have danced for joy. Instead, I had a moment there in the office once he had left. Just me and my wonderfully patient, loving, supportive husband, standing in the doctor's office, sharing a moment. The last hurdle to my being finished with this, the last road block to being completely done was taken away just like that. What an incredible feeling! Certainly worthy of a "moment." Certainly worthy of some tears.
