2. Wonderful spaghetti with Prego roasted garlic and herb sauce seasoned lightly with some sugar and salt, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese with a side of chicken.
3. Frozen whole bean green beans with nothing on it but a little salt
4. Assorted vegetables covered lightly in a parmesan cheese sauce
5. A half of a Steak N' Shake original steakburger with a few swallows of a deliciously cool malted milk shake --- YUM!
6. Scrambled eggs with a spoonful of creamy cheese grits
7. Nutella on soft oatmeal toast - this can also be combined with peanut butter.
Any of these things can be enjoyed at any time of day. I have no problems eating something breakfasty for dinner or visa versa. I am enjoying them all since my taste buds are coming alive once again and I am able to enjoy the taste of food. I thank the Lord for these little things because they help me to get through. What is also helping to get me through is a medicine called Neupogen. Even though I have to get an actual shot every day this week, it is helping to bring up my white blood cell count which fell very very low and made me feel awful and have a fever over the weekend. I am feeling much better now and think that maybe, just maybe I will get through this. At least I will continue to enjoy the taste of food for the next couple of weeks. I'll take it!

Taste and see that the Lord is good! (Ps 34:8). For some reason I think we are to take this verse metaphoricaly, but you have a great attitude as you thank Him with or without your taste buds functioning. To be honest, I cannot fathom not tasting. Gatorgirl and I had lunch at a genuine Cuban restaurant - "Virtually Cuban" here in Gainesville. I had a chicken sandwich on a Cuban bun with all the works. It was huge and delicious. Gatorgirl had beef ropaj with mojo juice, black beans & rice, and plantains. Yes, life is enjoying the small things that God gives us. And as far as those veggies, they are fantastic without the butter, sugar and the rest when one can taste. By the way we are still mooching on the in-laws. Tonight we have chicken cassarole, black eyed peas with ham, corn bread & gourmet salad. While all this is great, you have realized the ultimate - While the Lord gives and takes away, His name is still to be blessed.
Mmmmm....Nutella, I have a jar in my kitchen right now, and I may just have to enjoy it as well. Glad that you are feeling a little better.
Tasting good food. What we take for granted. I am so glad your taste buds are coming back. I can't imagine not enjoy eating, but thanking God for the small things in life was very inspiring and uplifting. With that kind of attitude, you will make it through these difficult days and there are hundreds praying for you.
So glad to enjoy your enjoyment with you!!! I'm glad for all the medical advances that make Neupogen and other blessings possible! Grandmapper is right, many people are praying. Our son's school's financial office called and wanted to know how you are doing-they pray for you all the time they said. Happy for your joy-C
I haven't checked other people's blogs enough lately, apparently I just check my own ;) Ok so here's the new phrase:
Started chemo....yada yada yada....two weeks later food tastes SO GOOD!! Love you Mom!
I can read the happiness in your voice. Glad to hear you are doing better. Phil 4:13 is one of my favorite verses. I am here if you need anything. Check out my blog.
