I have had the privilege of being married for 37 years to a wonderful man who has taught me the joy of humor and laughter. It's contagious, it soothes the soul, it makes difficult times bearable, it is a gift I treasure. May we never lose the ability to laugh.

breezy days of summer
Fresh cantelope with strawberries, thick sliced tomatoes encased with a generous portion of miracle whip on fresh bread, sweet corn dripping with butter and salted liberally, hamburgers grilled to perfection with tomatoes, lettuce, and onions on a toasted bun, sweet homemade pickles touched with spices, deviled eggs, pickled eggs, homemade potato salad, and relishes galore. The breezy days of summer are here...the only thing missing is 3355 Sandpiper Lane and little kids splashing in the pool. Oh my, the memories.

Seriously, 3355.. Cindy and I have reminisced about that place.. while we always have neatly tucked away in our memory, there are times when I wish I could go back there again literally for a good visit. Can you miss a house? Or could it be more than just the house but the smells, the cooking, the long table on the porch, the Christmas stockings lined up under the spindles, the carpeted bathroom with me trying to remember how much I owe grandma for toilet paper, the trundle bed, the fig tree, the cheese grits, the bacon inside eggs, and mint sweet iced tea, the $18.00 butter dish, the Christmas tree, Grandma's entire make up area, and the scary man that lived in Grandpa's closet, the plastic table cloth that your arms stuck to in summer, Grandpa's secret toolshed - or even worse - the compost behind it, the men watching football in the living room while the women make dinner. Man I miss that place.
Hear Hear! What sweet memories of childhood :) Thankfully we have everyone we need to make those precious memories come together. Yes, it will be a new location, but if I have anything to say about the plastic covering on the table, that your Corelle plate sticks to when you pick up, will still be a part of it. Love you Grandma and Grandpa, what sweet memories you enabled us kids to have!
It is a pleasure reading all of your writings, and since at the moment I tear up at the tiniest thing, this has really done it for me!!! We are so blessed to have such wonderful, happy , and pleasant memories, and I say here's to a future with ALL of us getting together now and again and continuing them!!!!! C
