Technology is a wonderful thing! On Wednesday, I communicated with all three of my kidos. I i-sighted with Christina in the morning, I talked with Billy on my cell phone around noon, and I emailed with Cindy later on in the afternoon. It is always a wonderful day when I can communicate with each one and know that they are doing well.
Technology is a irritating thing! It is a new dawn in parenting when webpages are set up so that everyone can follow the progression of a new baby from conception (it feels like) to birth including pictures of the development of the nursery, ultrasound pictures so everyone can see how the baby is growing, and links to the baby registry so that everyone knows exactly what to buy even though, according to pictures on the webpage, they already have so many clothes, diapers, gadgets, furniture that the child will be a teenager before all of the clothes available to them ever see the light of day.
Tuesday evening we got to have a quick dinner and visit with a friend who will be heading off to the Amazon in a couple of weeks. We know that we must never take these opportunities for granted.
Wednesday and Thursday evening found me at the "Coffee, Cookies, and Composition" event at the Writing Center at school watching college kids in consultation with other college kids, helping them with papers, essays, and reports. It is a wonderful thing to see as you watch groups of kids sitting all over the place, deep in conversation with other kids and they are talking about writing. Amazing!
And tonight, we get to "hobknob with the goobersmoochers" as we are invited to a dinner with the "suits" on campus. I'm all dressed up and lookin' smart.
This week has been an adventure and I find myself laughing quietly to myself when I see all that it has brought us. I do so enjoy looking back and seeing the path that we have negotiated in just a short time. Thank you, Lord!
